Note that variable load gift cards are excluded so you will only earn points on $50 and $100 gift cards which have $5.95 activation fees.
Therefore, if you convert your Everyday Rewards points to dollars off your shop you will lose money buying these gift cards due to the costly activation fee.
If you are converting to Qantas points, then you will be paying 1.19 cents per Qantas point you earn if you buy a $100 gift card or 2.38 cents per Qantas point if you buy a $50 gift card, meaning only business class or international flight redemptions would provide enough value to offset the activation fee.
