Plus, if you choose to stay with HCF beyond the 30 days you can also earn up to 130,000 Flybuys points after ten months of coverage.
For the separate offer of up to 130,000 points, the amount you receive depends on the cost of your annual premium:
- $6,000 or more: 130,000 points
- $5,000-5,999: 100,000 points
- $4,000-4,999: 80,000 points

For the 20,000 points sign up bonus, you only have to maintain your cover for 30 days and then they’ll be credited to your Flybuys account within 14 days.
If you signed up for an extras only policy, you could potentially earn the 20,000 Flybuys points for as little as ~$20 as the lowest priced extras cover starts at around $3 per week.
20,000 Flybuys points are worth $100 if redeemed at shops like Coles, Kmart, Bunnings or Officeworks. Alternatively, you could convert them to 10,000 Velocity points which can sometimes be worth a lot more.

Will you be able to get this insurance at $3pw just for 30days while continue with existing health insurance company like Mefibank ?
I think a lot of health funds may have rules against double insurance but it’s quite common to have hospital cover with one and extras cover with another.
That was exactly what I was wondering cos it’s a hassle to change for a month. But I wonder though if we don’t claim the govt rebate for the second policy whether it won’t flag in the system??
I had hospital and extras with one company and then took out extras with with another one (as it was a great deal and I needed it) and never had any issues with claiming. I only recently cancelled it and had it for 5 year.
Would your existing insurance get cancel when you sign up the additional extra with another provider ,as part of the application it asked for your existing insurance company?
“Flybuys points will be awarded in one instalment within 14 days after the 30 Day Period”. Would it be best practice to keep the policy until the points appear in your account? I wonder if you cancelled after 30 days, would you still receive the points?
If you get to 30 days and want to cancel right away I’d recommend getting them to confirm over live chat or email that you will still receive the points even if you cancel. However, if it’s just a few extra dollars for another week or two then it would probably be best to just stay a little longer.
