For example, a Sydney to Melbourne Qantas flight now costs just 6,900 points (plus $57 in taxes) compared to the 9,200 points it previously cost. Jetstar flights are not included in the discount.
Domestic economy reward flights generally aren’t the best value Qantas points redemption but they’re far from the worst.
Discounts like this, as rare as they are, make them a much more compelling option – especially if you’re flying a regional route where normal airfares are very expensive.
Still, before booking any reward flight you should always check to see what the equivalent cash airfare costs to ensure you’re getting at least 1 cent per point in value.

The 25% discount will be automatically applied to the Qantas Points required for Eligible Classic Flight Rewards booked between 11:00am (AEDT) 15 October 2025 and 11:59pm (AEDT) 19 October 2025 for travel between 1 November 2025 – 3 October 2026. To receive the 25% discount, all flights in your Trip must be eligible Classic Flight Rewards. If a Trip includes a Transfer (domestic – same day) or a Transfer (international – a flight within 24 hours) on other partner airlines, that Trip is not eligible for this offer. If your Trip includes multiple flight segments, the 25% discount will only be applied when your whole Trip is in Economy.
