QBE Insurance and Velocity have just launched their new partnership, allowing you to earn tens of thousands of bonus Velocity points on selected insurance policies:

After 90 days you will receive:

  • 30,000 points for comprehensive car insurance
  • 15,000 points for third party car insurance
  • 30,000 points for home insurance
  • 30,000 points for contents insurance
  • 30,000 points for landlord insurance
  • 15,000 points for small business insurance

Plus, if you end up maintaining your policy for a year you will also earn:

  • 10,000 points for comprehensive car insurance
  • 5,000 points for third party car insurance
  • 10,000 points for home insurance
  • 10,000 points for contents insurance
  • 10,000 points for landlord insurance
  • 5,000 points for small business insurance

The car, landlord and home insurance policies credit the points to your individual Velocity account whilst the small business offer is only for Virgin Australia Business Flyer members (ABN required).

To receive the sign up bonus, you must hold your policy for 90 days and make at least one premium payment. The points will then be credited within 5 days.

As with any insurance offer, make sure you compare policies with multiple providers and carefully read the relevant product disclosure statements before making any decision.

What are 30,000 Velocity points worth?

It depends how you redeem them:

  1. Got a quote, it’s an additional $65 a month on current comprehensive car insurance. Not sure if 30,000 points are worth that…

    1. Not worth the extra $780 a year but if you can cancel after the points hit then that would defs be worth it.

      1. 195 for 30,000 points is 0.65cents a point. It is worth it, but not great compared to the qantas offers

  2. Got a quote on landlord policy and is $700 cheaper with 30,000 points and same level of cover and tenant protection. No brainer

  3. t&cs state: the Member must hold the Eligible Insurance Product for at least 90 days and make at least 1 premium payment in full under that insurance policy for the Eligible Insurance Product. Doesn’t this mean you could just pay for 3 months and then cancel?

  5. HMMMM have their terms and conditions changed? It is not allowing you to do contents anymore?

    1. I don’t believe they’ve changed. As far as I can tell they’re still offering 30,000 points on contents insurance.
