Earn 5% bonus Velocity points when you next manually transfer Flybuys points to Velocity and 15% if it’s your first ever time using Auto Transfer.
This is the first time since March 2025 that we’ve seen a transfer bonus this good. If you’ve been saving up your Flybuys points to eventually convert to Velocity, now would be the best time to do it.
To earn the 15% bonus, you have to enable Auto Transfer for the first time ever. If you’re ineligible for the Auto Transfer offer, you can still take advantage of the 5% bonus for manually transferring points.
You can earn up to 30,000 bonus points for the Auto Transfer offer or up to 10,000 points for the manual transfer offer. In other words, it’s only good for transfers of up to 400,000 Flybuys points.
You will only earn the bonus points on your first qualifying transfer. You can expect them to be credited to your Velocity account by the end of August.
Set a reminder for 28 July so you can transfer on the last day to ensure you collect the bonus on all the points you have yet to earn this month. If you have Auto Transfer enabled, turn it off now so you can build up your balance for a larger transfer at the end of the month.
Terms and conditions
The terms and conditions initially published on the Velocity website neglected to mention a limit on the number of bonus points you can earn but Flybuys have now shared the complete terms and conditions which you can find below.
Between 12:00am AEST Wed 1 Jul 2026 and 11:59pm AEST Tue 28 Jul 2026 (Promotion Period), Flybuys members who link or have linked their Velocity Frequent Flyer membership to their Flybuys account and make an eligible transfer of Flybuys points to Velocity will earn bonus Velocity Points based on whichever transfer occurs first during the Promotion Period:
- 5% bonus Velocity Points on the value of Velocity Points received on your next manual transfer when you transfer a minimum of 1,000 Flybuys points to Velocity; or
- 15% bonus Velocity Points on the value of Velocity Points received on your first ever Auto Transfer when you auto transfer a minimum of 1,000 Flybuys points to Velocity. To be eligible, you must turn on Auto Transfer during the Promotion Period and the Auto Transfer must be your first ever Auto Transfer.
Each Flybuys member is eligible for one allocation of bonus Velocity Points in connection with this offer, which will be calculated on the first eligible transfer that the member successfully completes during the Promotion Period.
Bonus Velocity Points will be awarded to the member’s Velocity Frequent Flyer account within 4 weeks from the end of the Promotion Period.
Bonus Velocity Points offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Flybuys’ Privacy Policy applies. Standard Flybuys Terms and Conditions apply. Velocity membership Terms and Conditions apply.
Complete your first ever Auto Transfer to receive 15% bonus Velocity Points New Auto Transfer members only. If you choose to turn on Auto Transfer and complete your first ever Auto Transfer as your first transfer during the Promotion Period, you will receive 15% bonus Velocity Points on the base number of Velocity Points you receive on your first Auto Transfer from Flybuys to Velocity during the Promotion Period. For example, if your eligible Auto Transfer is 1,000 Flybuys points to 500 Velocity Points, you will receive 75 bonus Velocity Points. A maximum of 30,000 bonus Velocity Points for completing your first Auto Transfer will be awarded per member during the Promotion Period. This offer is not available to members who have already completed an Auto Transfer prior to the Promotion Period.
Manual transfer to receive 5% bonus Velocity Points If you choose to make a manual transfer as your first transfer within the Promotion Period, you will receive 5% bonus Velocity Points on the base number of Velocity Points you receive on your first manual transfer from Flybuys to Velocity during the Promotion Period. For example, if your eligible transfer is 1,000 Flybuys points to 500 Velocity Points, you will receive 25 bonus Velocity Points. A maximum of 10,000 bonus Velocity Points for completing a manual transfer will be awarded per member during the Promotion Period.

I can’t recall if I’ve turned on auto transfer before or not on some of my family members accounts. Is there a way of checking? If it’s not the first time and I use auto transfer for this promo I imagine I won’t get any bonus points? Thanks
I don’t believe there’s a simple way of checking. I’d get Velocity to confirm it for you so you’re covered.
Thank you! I fly Qantas due to work and historically being a FF member and Gold; not hating on Virgin at all. So haven’t used this at as I’ve preferred Rewards, but don’t need anything else and will start transferring. Will be a decent 60k+ Velocity points with this 15% offer… I’m wondering though if it will be worth waiting another year. I won’t be flying Virgin before then, just stash up for my retirement. Do they do this every year? I know things can change of course…wondering if worth the risk waiting. Tia
They used to run this promotion twice a year, but I’ve been waiting 15 months since they last ran it. I thought it wouldn’t happen again!
Note the maximum bonus is 30k Velocity points for Auto transfer and 10k for manual transfer.
I can not remember either. I checked with velocity in the online chat, and they said they can only see points transactions for the past 2 years……
Just spoke to flybuys as well, and they have no way of checking this either haha. Also could not confirm that if I used auto transfer, if I would get the lower 5% if I have used it in the past
Is 5% bonus as good as it gets? Should I keep squirrelling away flybuys points or is now the time to pull the trigger on converting?
I have already done an automatic transfer so I am ineligible for the 15%
This is as good as it gets.
Is this offer for everyone or is it targeted? I can’t see it in my velocity or flybuys app.
It’s for everyone. No activation is required.
I have a new flybuys account that I have never done auto or manual transfer with, but my velocity account has received auto and manual transfers from my other flybuys account in the past already.
Did you know if I would still get the 15% bonus points with the auto transfer from my new flybuys account?
I am also in this situation and curious to know which one to do.
I suspect you won’t be eligible if your Velocity account has received points from Auto Transfer before but your best hope is to ask Velocity confirm it for you.
The max 30,000 velocity bonus points is when you auto transfer 166,000 flybuys – just a quick reference
You can earn the bonus points when transferring up to 400,000 Flybuys points.
400,000 Flybuys = 200,000 Velocity points. 15% of 200,000 is 30,000 and 5% is 10,000.
That maximum bonus limit is rubbish. Been waiting so long for this to come round and have 500,000+ Flybuys ready to transfer. Pre 2023 were certainly the good old days of point earning.
I have 700,000 flybuys. Is there anyway to split the points so that only 400k points are converted to velocity and the rest saved for a future offer? I have not used auto tfr before so would want to do this. Otherwise I’m wasting 300k flybuys points as in getting no bonus velocity points on them
A possible workaround would be to convert 300,000 Flybuys points into $1,500 of Flybuys Dollars and then after you’ve Auto Transferred the remaining 400,000 you could ask Flybuys to reverse the $1,500 back into points. I have heard of people successfully requesting Flybuys to reverse Flybuys Dollars transfers but I don’t know how common it is. It may be something they only do when you’ve reported a Flybuys card lost or something like that.
Appreciate that, Thankyou
Hi All. Just an update for those of you with > 400,000 Flybuys points balances… I was able to transfer my points balance (less 400,000 points) to Flybuys dollars then turned on auto transfer transfer out the remaining 400K to get the maximum 30K bonus points for the fewest Flybuys points (400K). I turned auto transfer back off and then I contacted Flybuys via chat and asked them to reverse the Flybuys dollars back into points. 24 hours later I have all the excess points back again. Win!
I am in the exact same position. If you try this and manage to get your Flybuys dollars reversed to points can you let us know?
Totally agree!
Can these offers be stacked? So could I manually transfer a portion of points for 5% then turn on Auto Transfer for the remaining points to get 15%? This is to overcome the 30K max bonus points on Auto transfer. If not I guess I will try the Flybuys dollars conversion for the points about 400K and try for a reversal. I guess worst case I will get some money off my shopping for a while if I can’t undo the Flybuys dollars 🙂
Also do you need to leave auto transfer on until the end of the promotion or can you turn it on, let it vacuum your points, then turn it straight off again?
It’s one or the other. Whichever type of eligible transfer you complete first is the one you’ll earn the bonus on.
Thanks. Do you know about the last part of my question? Do you need to leave auto transfer on until the points come in or until the end of the promotion period or can you just do it then turn it straight off again
The terms and conditions do not require you to keep it enabled.
If I turn on auto transfer today, how long before the points are transferred? Is it instant for actual points and then you wait for the bonus?
When you enable Auto Transfer the points will convert immediately (there may be a short delay). The bonus points, however, will only appear weeks after the promotion has ended.
As mentioned in the article, it’s usually a good idea to hold off until closer to the 28th so that you can receive the bonus on any additional Flybuys points you collect this month.
thank you!
If you turn on auto transfer and have used auto transfer before, it means you get no bonus points at all?
That’s right.
thank you. You are amazing. So knowledgeable. I tried to read through the terms and conditions and couldn’t find anything. Thanks again.
Is the % bonus based on your fly buys points. If you transfer 100 000 flybuys do you get 15% of 100 000 or 15% of the 50 000 velocity?
The bonus is based on the number of Velocity points you receive.
Has anyone successfully found out, if they have previously used auto transfer? And how did you find out?
I have heard of people finding out by asking either Flybuys or Velocity. It may take a few attempts before you get someone capable of answering.
I need to book singapore aitline using my Krisflyer miles anf I have some shortfall. Is it a good idea to convert Flybuys-Velocity – Krisflyer?
Converting Velocity points to KrisFlyer can sometimes be worth it. Just remember they use a 1.55:1 transfer rate and if you decide to move your miles back to Velocity later on (e.g. to avoid them expiring) then you’ll be hit with another 1.55:1 conversion rate.
I’d also only recommend transferring if there is actually an availability for the particular flight you want to book. As for whether it’s worth it for you, consider the equivalent value of your Flybuys points if redeemed on groceries. If you wouldn’t pay that same amount in cash right now for the KrisFlyer miles or the flight they will allow you to book (don’t forget the taxes and fees) then I’d suggest you reconsider.
how do i activate the auto transfer ? all i need to do is to go to flybuys, click ‘choose reward’ and choose the option “every 1000 flybuys points well auto transfer to 500 velocity points” ?
That’s right.
I joined Flybuys very recently and only have 5000 points. Is it recommended to auto-convert my points now, or keep saving until they do another bonus considering the last one was March 2025 (i.e., likely a 1.5 year wait or not at all + more restrictions)? I’m currently in the middle of a 10,000 bonus points offer, but it won’t come in until August.
Also, should auto-transfers be turned off immediately after your first time to prep for manual transfer bonuses in the future?
I’d recommend that you keep Auto Transfer turned off and wait. Whilst it was a year and a half since they last ran this offer, it might not be that long next time. They also sometimes run smaller fixed bonuses.
