To be eligible for for this offer, you can’t have earned points from a Qantas points earning credit card within the past 24 months. If you’re not sure about your eligibility, try to register for the offer and it’ll tell you whether you qualify.
After you’ve registered, you must apply and be approved for one of the credit cards listed on qantas.com/cards and then complete a purchase within 30 days. The bonus points will then arrive within twelve weeks.
You can only earn the bonus once. American Express Qantas Corporate, Qantas Money Platinum and Qantas Business Rewards cards are all excluded.
This timing of this bonus is clearly linked to the negative changes that banks are making to their credit card products as a result of the Reserve Bank of Australia’s decision to reduce interchange fees.
However, if you were already planning to apply for a Qantas points earning card and you meet the eligibility criteria for this bonus then it’s worth claiming. Just make sure to confirm what each card currently offers because it may well have changed since yesterday.

**First-time cardholder 10,000 extra Qantas Points offer: 10,000 extra Qantas Points are available to new Qantas Points earning credit or charge cardholders (over 18 years) who have not earned points on a Qantas Points earning credit card within the 24 months prior to activation of the offer.
