After over a month’s wait, we finally have another 20x points promotion on Apple gift cards to look forward to. Apple gift cards are great as they can be used to pay for essentially any product or service sold by Apple including devices, apps and subscriptions.
Here are the details:
- Runs from Wed 3 Apr to Tue 9 Apr 2024.
- Only available in-store at Coles.
- Limit of 50,000 points per day per Flybuys account.
- This offer is open to everyone and does not require activation.
How do I take advantage of this offer?
Scan your Flybuys card or barcode from the app when purchasing any Apple gift cards between 3 and 9 April. Your Flybuys points will appear in your account at around 5pm on the day following your purchase.
Make sure you don’t buy more than $2,500 worth of Apple gift cards per day as doing so will exceed the daily limit of 50,000 points. There’s no limit on the number of cards you can buy per day, just the amount of points you can earn so don’t worry if you need to, for example, buy ten $200 cards rather than four $500 cards.
Apple has an eight gift card limit for purchases but there’s a super easy work around; simply add the gift cards to your Apple account. You can checkout using up to $4,999 worth of gift cards in your Apple account balance plus another eight unredeemed gift cards on top.
Double dip
You can earn an extra 1 Qantas point per dollar spent on the Apple website if you click through the Apple page on Qantas Shopping before making your purchase. Whilst the Velocity eStore allows you to earn 2 Velocity points per dollar spent at Apple, its terms and conditions unfortunately exclude the use of gift cards.
If another retailer (e.g. JB Hi-Fi, Amazon, Officeworks etc) is selling the Apple device you want at a discount, you can call Apple on 133-622 and they’ll price match them up to a maximum of ten per cent off. You can pay using Apple gift cards when price matching but you can’t earn the Qantas Shopping or Velocity e-Store points because price matching must be done over the phone.
How many points will I earn?

One last thing to keep in mind is that a small number of people have reported receiving tampered Apple gift cards from Coles and Woolworths that cannot be redeemed. Tampered cards are often hard to open and the cards inside the packet sometimes have the wrong dollar amount on them. The serial number on the outside of the gift card packet also won’t match the one on the inside. Check your gift cards before leaving the store and if you notice that some have been tampered with, insist that you are refunded.
