Free 1,000-2,000 Velocity points when you link your Velocity account in the DiDi app

Update: this offer was originally set to end on 15 May but it has now been extended indefinitely.

Velocity Frequent Flyer and ride-sharing service DiDi have just launched their new partnership. If you link your Velocity account in the DiDi app, you’ll receive 1,000 Velocity points for free.

Plus, if you’re a Virgin Australia Business Flyer member you can link that account to earn another 1,000 Velocity points for your business.

Whilst the terms state that the 1,000 points can take up to 31 days to be credited, ours were received instantly for both the personal and Business Flyer offers.

You can only claim these bonus points once but if you continue to use DiDi you’ll also earn 1 Velocity point per dollar spent on rides.

If you’ve never used DiDi before, feel free to sign up using my referral link.

What are 1,000 Velocity points worth?

It depends on how you choose to redeem them:

Terms and conditions

Velocity Frequent Flyer members (“Velocity Member”) who do not have a registered customer profile with DiDi as at 1 July 2024 can earn 1,000 bonus Velocity Points when they:

  • download the DiDi app and create a DiDi account
  • select the “Velocity Points” option from the menu and then select Velocity Frequent Flyer;
  • enter their Velocity Frequent Flyer membership number as part of the registration process; and
  • complete and pay for one ride within Australia with DiDi using their newly registered DiDi customer profile, with Velocity Frequent Flyer selected in the Velocity Points section of the app.

Velocity Members who already have a registered customer profile as at 1 July 2024 with DiDi can earn 1,000 bonus Velocity Points when they add their Velocity Frequent Flyer membership number to the “Velocity Points” section of their customer profile with DiDi.

The Velocity Member’s first and last name on their Velocity membership account must match the first and last name registered to their DiDi customer profile.

If the Velocity Member meets the eligibility requirements for this offer, the bonus Velocity Points will be allocated to the Velocity Member’s Velocity membership account within 31 days of:

  • for new DiDi customers, paying for their first ride within Australia with DiDi using their newly registered DiDi customer profile; and
  • for existing DiDi customers, adding their Velocity Frequent Flyer membership number to their DiDi customer profile.

The 1,000 bonus Points offer can only be earned once per Velocity Member.

The Velocity Member can also earn 1 Point per $1 spent on the “Base Fare” for DiDi rides in conjunction with the Bonus Points offer.  See the Trip Earn offer for more details. For the avoidance of doubt, a Virgin Australia Business Flyer member cannot earn Points on a booking made while Velocity Frequent Flyer is their selected Velocity Points earning loyalty program within their DiDi account.

You can only earn Velocity Points on a single linked DiDi account. Once your Velocity Frequent Flyer account and DiDi account are linked you cannot link that Velocity Frequent Flyer account to another DiDi account.

Not valid with any other offer except the DiDi Trip Earn offer.

Velocity Members can de-link or manage their linked accounts at any time by contacting DiDi via the app.

This offer is subject to the Velocity membership Terms and Conditions as amended from time to time. The DiDi terms and conditions apply to the use of the DiDi app and all rides.

This offer may be changed, extended, suspended or terminated at any time.

See here for full terms and conditions including the separate Business Flyer offer.
