For the first time in over two months, earn 20x Flybuys points per dollar spent on Apple gift cards at Coles. Whilst these promotions are usually very common, this is the first one we’ve seen since August as they stop running them when the new iPhones are released.
Spending $1,000 on Apple gift cards during this offer would see you earn 20,000 Flybuys points, convertible to either $100 worth of Flybuys Dollars or 10,000 Velocity Frequent Flyer points.
Here are the details:
- Runs from Wed 30 Oct to Tue 5 Nov 2024.
- Only available in-store at Coles.
- Limit of 50,000 points per day per Flybuys account.
- This offer is open to everyone and does not require activation.
How it works
Buy any Apple gift cards in-store at Coles between 30 Oct and 5 Nov 2024 and scan your Flybuys card or Coles barcode at the checkout. You won’t receive any indication that you’ve qualified for the 20x points but they should credit to your account the next day at around 5pm (delays of a day or two aren’t unheard of).
You can earn up to 50,000 Flybuys points per day, meaning the maximum you can buy each day with one Flybuys account is $2,500 of Apple gift cards. Whether you buy them individually or across multiple transactions makes no difference.
When it comes to using your gift cards, Apple has an eight card limit for purchases but this is easy to get around. Simply redeem them onto your Apple account first and then you can pay using a combination of your account balance (up to $4,999) plus another eight unredeemed gift cards on top.
Apple will price match other retailers up to 10% off so it always pays to check what Amazon, JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks etc are charging for the same device. To perform a price match with Apple, you have to call them on 133-622.
If you were thinking of clicking through the Apple pages on Qantas Shopping or the Velocity e-Store to earn some extra points, it’s worth noting that they both exclude purchases with gift cards and also newly released products (e.g. iPhone 16).
Warning: There have been a number of reports of tampered Apple gift cards so make sure you check your cards before you pay to see if the serial number on the inside matches the one on the outside. If they don’t match, don’t buy.

Has anyone successfully purchased these cards using different giftcards (ie – eftpos cards)? Could be in for a double dip here if so!
First day of the offer and all Apple gift cards have sold out at my local Coles. Are they known to restock gift cards within the offer period?
Ask staff if they have any more Apple gift cards. Often Coles stores will have extra stock of gift cards on hand.
Thank you for suggesting! Surprisingly, managed to find a couple variable sum ones! Though they did bar me from purchasing more than 5 but I don’t see any card limit in the T&Cs, only a 50,000 Flybuys limit.
Unfortunately these deals are too well known about now, commonly shared on Wechat and other social media. Not really worth the effort in just going in and hoping for stock anymore, it’s becoming a waste of time. Especially with everyone knowing about it 1-2 weeks in advance to let them go and hide the gift cards around the store.
If I forgot to scan the flybuys at the time of purchase and scan with the receipt and flybuys straight afterwards via coles front desk, will this still work?
Every time I’ve done this (more times than I care to admit) I’ve received the points without issue.
I purchased 2 x variable load cards with $500 loaded but didn’t receive any bonus points, only 2 x 500 points! Not sure if these are included.
It’s not uncommon for the bonus points to lag behind the standard points by a day or so. Check again tomorrow at around 5pm and they will very likely be there.
The same happened with me. I purchased 5 x $500 cards and only got 2500 point. Hopefully they’ll show tomorrow as you say..
