12x KrisPay miles (7.7x Velocity points) on JB Hi-Fi gift cards in the Kris+ app

Earn 12x KrisPay miles per dollar spent on $100, $250 and $500 JB Hi-Fi gift cards when you purchase them in the Kris+ app.

There’s a purchase limit of ten $100 gift cards, eight $250 gift cards and six $500 gift cards per Kris+ user.

This is an interesting offer because Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles are often more useful and valuable than Velocity or Qantas points.

Those already earning and redeeming KrisFlyer miles may regard this offer as being even better than the 10x Velocity or Qantas points we usually see on gift cards that work at JB Hi-Fi.

However, it’s worth keeping in mind that KrisFlyer reward seat availability isn’t exactly stellar these days and you’ll need quite a lot of miles to book most flights (especially if your only option is their new dynamically priced Access award).

Whilst you can convert Velocity points to KrisFlyer, you do so at a rate of 1.55:1 so you’ll lose a bit in the process. KrisFlyer miles also expire three years after they’re earned so if you have to transfer them back to Velocity you’ll be hit with another 1.55:1 conversion rate.

If you have no interest in KrisFlyer and simply want to collect Velocity points then this could still be worthwhile as you are effectively earning 7.7x Velocity points per dollar spent after the conversion rate.

Even if you could technically earn more Velocity points from an offer at Coles or Kmart (10x points compared to 7.7x points), this one is more convenient, includes larger denominations and has more generous purchase limits.

Just keep in mind that you need a minimum of 5,000 KrisFlyer miles to transfer to Velocity so you’ll want to buy at least $400 worth of JB Hi-Fi gift cards if you’re planning to collect Velocity points.

    1. You’ll see Saver, Advantage and Access when searching flights on the Singapore Airlines website. Access is the dynamically priced one.

  1. I live in Perth where Krisplus isn’t really a thing and have taken advantage of it anytime I visit Sydney or Melbourne, but I assume an in app online purchase of gift cards isn’t location dependent if you can use it at any JB in the country.
Am I reading it right in the T’s and C’s that there isn’t an expire date on the gift cards and that there isn’t an end date of the offer at the moment? Cheers!

If you can purchase them then you can use them just like any other JB Hi-Fi gift card.

JB Hi-Fi gift cards do not expire and as far as I can tell there’s no end date for this offer, although I wouldn’t expect it to last forever because it is unusually generous.

  2. Hi there, I’ve looked at this on the Kris+ app and can’t see an answer – are you aware if the limit is 10 x 100 _and_ 8 x 250 _and_ 6 x 500, or if it is _or_ for each denomination? So is the max per account $3k (for 6 x 500) or $6k for the max of each denomination?

    1. My understanding is that you could spend as much $6,000 if you maxed out the limits for each denomination.

    2. I have successfully purchased 6x $500, but I get errors when trying to buy the other denominations- how did you go with your purchases?

    3. I have purchased $6000 worth – you may need to take a small break during purchasing as there is an error which may come up if you try to purchase them all at once. But come back in a few mins and try again – it will clear.

  3. I tried to buy more than 2*500 giftcards but the payment kept refunded. Anyone has any problem?

    1. That may be your credit card company identifying possible fraudulent duplicate transactions? I bought 6x $500 successfully, but am being refused the $250 and $100 ones.
