30% off Qantas Classic Reward economy flights to Queensland

Save 30% on the number of points you need to book economy Classic Reward flights on selected routes to or from Queensland. Book by 9 Jun 2024 for travel between 1 Aug 2024 and 22 May 2025.

Eligible cities include Brisbane, Toowoomba, Townsville, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Hamilton Island and Cairns. See the terms and conditions below for a list of all city pairings that qualify for the 30% discount.

Note that the 30% off only applies to flights operated by Qantas; Jetstar Classic Rewards are not eligible.

For an example of how much you could save, a flight from Sydney to the Gold Coast will cost just 5,600 points (normally 8,000) and a transcontinental flight from Perth to Brisbane will only set you back 12,600 points (normally 18,000).

Whilst domestic economy Classic Rewards aren’t generally regarded as the best use of Qantas points, they’re not the worst either. This discount certainly makes them a much more compelling option.

Terms and conditions

Classic Flight Rewards are subject to capacity controls, availability is limited, and some flights may not have any Classic Flight Rewards available. Excludes Classic Plus Flight Rewards. The Qantas Points required will be displayed during the booking process on qantas.com or Qantas Direct (fees may apply). Status Credits (excluding Points Club and Points Club Plus) and Qantas Points may not be earned on Classic Flight Rewards. The 30% discount on points will be automatically applied to the Qantas Points required for all available and eligible domestic Economy Classic Flight Rewards booked between 10am (AEST) Monday 3 June 2024 and 11.59pm (AEST) Sunday 9 June 2024, for travel on Qantas between 1 August 2024 and 22 May 2025. To receive the 30% discount on points, all flights in your Trip must be eligible for Classic Flight Rewards booked in the same cabin. Eligible Classic Flight Rewards are available on Qantas-operated Economy Classic Flight Rewards with a ‘QF’ flight number across the eligible city-pair routes listed below.

If your Trip includes multiple flight segments the discount will be applied to the whole Trip, for example, Orange to Brisbane via Sydney will be eligible for the discount if all flight segments are eligible Economy Classic Flight Rewards. If you make any changes to the date and time of your Classic Flight Reward booking, in order to be eligible to retain the 30% discount, you must make the updated booking within the promotional period and any flight in your updated booking must be within the specified travel dates of this promotion. Fares are subject to change and cancellation fees apply. If your Trip includes multiple cabins, for example, Orange to Sydney in Economy and Sydney to Brisbane in Business, the discount will not apply to your booking. If a Trip includes a Transfer (domestic – same day) or a Transfer (international – a flight within 24 hours) on other partner airlines, that trip is not eligible for this offer. The discount applies to the Qantas Points amount required only and does not apply to the taxes, fees and carrier charges payable to Qantas (excluding any amounts payable to third parties at the airport) which are payable in addition to the Qantas Points required quoted as 3 June 2024 and subject to change. Discount applies when using points for a Classic Flight Reward seat only. Qantas may extend or withdraw this offer at any time. Taxes, fees and carrier charges are per adult in AUD unless otherwise stated rounded up to the nearest dollar and, based on payment at qantas.com by PayID. This offer is only available for bookings made on the Qantas website or via Qantas Contact Centres (fees may apply).

  1. Let’s say I flew Sydney to Brisbane with a stop in Canberra, will the whole trip from Sydney to Brisbane including the stop in Canberra be discounted by 30% or will the Canberra – Brisbane flight be the only one to achieve the 30% discount. Thank you.

    1. SYD to BNE normally costs 8,000 points or 12,000 with a stop in CBR because the extra distance of flying via CBR makes it a Zone 2 Classic Reward. Both will still be discounted because you’re flying to Queensland but the direct flight will be cheaper at 5,600 points whilst the one with a CBR stop will be 8,400 points.

Not all indirect flights are more expensive, though. Flying from SYD to BNE via PQQ (Port Macquarie) costs the same amount of points as a direct flight.
