20x Everyday Rewards points on Apple gift cards at Woolworths

Earn 20x Everyday Rewards points per dollar spent on all denominations of Apple gift cards in-store at Woolworths.

These offers are very popular as you can use Apple gift cards to pay for devices, apps, subscriptions and more. Buying $1,000 worth of Apple gift cards would earn you either 10,000 Qantas points or $100 worth of Everyday Rewards Dollars.

Here are the details:

  • Runs from Wed 15 Jan to Tue 21 Jan 2025
  • Only available in-store at Woolworths
  • Limit of ten fixed value gift cards per day
  • Limit of ten variable load gift cards per day
  • This offer is open to everyone and does not require activation

How it works

Simply present your Everyday Rewards card or membership barcode when buying Apple gift cards in-store at Woolworths between 15 Jan and 21 Jan 2025 and you’ll earn 20x Everyday Rewards points per dollar spent, instantly credited to your account.

You won’t find this promotion in the Everyday Rewards app as they only advertise them in the Woolworths weekly specials catalogue and sometimes via posters at the in-store gift card display. You don’t need to activate or “boost” anything to earn the 20x points.

There’s a limit of ten fixed value and ten variable load gift cards per day, meaning you could buy as much as $7,000 worth of Apple gift cards in a single day if you bought ten fixed value $200 cards and ten variable cards each loaded with $500.

If you’re wanting to use your Apple gift cards to buy a device (e.g. iPhone, iPad, Mac etc), you can add up to $4,999 worth of gift cards to your Apple account and pay using that balance plus up to eight unredeemed gift cards on top so very large purchases are possible.

Officially, you can no longer earn the extra points from clicking through Qantas Shopping before buying your device on the Apple website as they now exclude purchases made with gift cards. However, I recently received those extra points for an Apple TV I bought with my account balance (loaded with gift cards) so it may not actually be enforced.

It’s worth checking if another retailer (e.g. Amazon, JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks etc) has your device cheaper than Apple as they will price match them up to 10% off. You can pay for a price matched order with gift cards but it must be done over the phone by calling Apple on 133-622

Warning: make sure you check your Apple gift cards for signing of tampering before you pay for them. Confirm that the serial number on the inside and outside match and ensure that the redemption code hasn’t had any of its digits removed. If there’s something wrong, don’t buy the gift card.

    1. I think there’s a good chance we’ll see a 10x points offer on Visa, Eftpos or Mastercard gift cards within the next month.

    2. There are so many 1-star reviews for the Vanilla Visa Gift Card. Most reported the need to link it to PayPal to actually use it. I’m not sure if I would take the risk.

    1. You can follow the instructions on the back of the gift card if you want to redeem it onto your Apple account.

    2. The easiest way: Open the App Store on your Apple device, select “Redeem Gift Card or Code,” enter or scan the code with your camera. However, as the editor mentioned, make sure to read the instructions first.

  1. Please make sure you double check, triple check whether the gift cards you purchased is tampered or not before you leave the store.

Purchased $1600 worth of Apple gift cards today because of this offer and they are all tampered.

Still don’t know whether I would get the money back or not!

  3. Hi I went to Woolworths today to buy Apple Gift Card so I could take advantage of gaining points. Called Office Works to see if they accept the Apple Gift Cards for Mac. They said no, the gift card has to state ‘Office Works’. I’m a bit bamboozled as everything I’ve read says you can. Can the brains trust help me out?

    1. I’m not quite sure where you read that Apple gift cards can be used at Officeworks. Perhaps you’re thinking of Ultimate gift cards as some of those are accepted at Officeworks?

Can you not just buy your Mac from Apple directly? If Officeworks is cheaper, call Apple and ask them to price match it and then pay using your Apple gift cards.

  4. Tried to buy some 2x variable cards yesterday, both were duds (cards inside were a different number and redemption code scratched off). Staff checked the rest in the store and all the variable cards were tampered.

Checked another store today and they only had up to $200 cards but they were ok.

  5. I bought seven variable $500 Apple Card’s and four were faulty! From two different stores in Adelaide. The serial numbers are correct for the first maybe four digits and last maybe six digits but the middle six or so digits are wrong, so the cards are invalid. The managers at both stores were totally unfazed as this seems to be a daily event and they immediately gave me the email link to Woolworths head office to claim. I bought these in good faith because I wanted the points otherwise I would not touch apple gift cards with a ten foot pole because they are so rife with scams. I am very disappointed that this is continuing to happen and that both freepoints and Woolworths have not made a statement to this effect warning consumers. I sincerely hope this does not affect my points total as I bought them in good faith.

I understand how frustrating this scam is as I’ve been a victim of it myself but I should point out that I do actually warn people about it. If you scroll up you’ll see that this article prominently states that people should check their Apple gift cards for signs of tampering before paying for them. I’ve been doing this since 2023 when I first encountered tampered Apple gift cards. Beyond increasing awareness, there’s little else I can do as I’m not affiliated with these promotions or any of the companies involved in them.

You’re absolutely right that they could be doing more to stop them, though. If it’s of any interest, I’ve written an article where I discuss these tampering scams and it includes some strategies they could potentially use to combat them (e.g. printing the redemption code on the receipt at the time of purchase so that there’s nothing to tamper with).

I sincerely hope this does not affect my points total as I bought them in good faith.

Based on other accounts I’ve witnessed you may well end up receiving a refund and keeping all the points you earned.

  6. If this is so common, why are the supermarkets still selling them, why hasn’t Apple made a more bullet proof card, why isn’t there a 2fa for the card or something similar. Wouldnt this be hurting the Apple and shopping centre brands. ??
And why are the shopping centres still selling them if there is such a massive issue.

  7. First time tried to buy the apple gc and one of the staff told me that i can’t open and verify the number. I have to purchase first and then only I can open it. Who want to waste time and money if the card is tempered after the payment.

  8. Went into a store in Adelaide and there was none on the shelf. Asked the staff and they said they had to throw all the Apple Card’s out as they were all tampered with. Can someone explain to me when the tampering actually occurs? Like is this someone in the store doing this or is it during manufacture?

    Reply

    1. People steal the unactivated gift cards from the shelves, tamper with them and then return to the store to place them back.
