How it works
Scan your Flybuys card when you buy $100 or $250 Vanilla Visa gift cards in-store at Coles between 23 Sep and 29 Sep 2026 and you will earn 1,500 bonus points on each one.
The bonus points usually credit to your account the following day at around 5pm but sometimes they can take an extra day or two. In addition to the 1,500 bonus points, you’ll also receive the standard 1x point per dollar spent.
Each Flybuys account can purchase a maximum of five gift cards. That’s five in total, not five per day or five of each denomination.
Since both the $100 and $250 Visa gift cards earn the same 1,500 bonus points, most people tend to just buy the $100 denomination. However, that also means it’s more likely to sell out first.
Whilst this bonus is better than anything Woolworths have run on Visa gift cards in years, it’s still not as good as the 2,000 points offers that Coles sometimes run on Mastercard gift cards.
For that reason, this promotion is only recommended if you really need the points. If not, you may instead want to hold out for one of the better Mastercard offers.
At the time of writing, it’s still possible to use these gift cards to pay the ATO but only by phone, not online. There are no surcharges as the ATO treat them as domestic debit cards.
Warning: Always open up Visa gift cards immediately after scanning them to check that they haven’t been tampered with. It’s easier to do this if you only buy them one at a time. See here for more details about this scam.
Also, as a general rule you should always try to spend prepaid Visa gift cards sooner rather than later as the longer you leave them unused, the higher the chance of a successful BIN attack (scammers brute force different card number combinations until they find ones that work).

Can you use the 1st gift card to pay for the 2nd and 3rd and only pay the $5.95 extra?
Even if it did work it would be difficult to pull off as Coles self checkouts don’t allow split card payments when buying gift cards, meaning you would have to go through a regular checkout and ask staff.
No. As per the T&C’s You cannot purchase a Gift Card with another Gift Card at Coles
today they told me in the shop that we can buy 5 per day per account, is this true?
No. Each account can only earn the bonus points a maximum of five times in total. If you want to buy more than five you’ll have to use multiple Flybuys accounts.
If I am the Flybys account holder but my husband is an additional card member with his own card does this mean we are only 1 account OR we are classed a 2 separate accounts as we have our own card each?
You need to have completely separate accounts.

Hi. I’ve purchased $500 and the 529 Flybuys points have come through but not the bonus. Usually when I buy gift cards, the bonus points come through straight away. Is there usually a wait, and if not, should I reach out to Flybuys and ask for the bonus points to be applied? Thanks as always for the great page and resources.
I’ve had this happen (when the checkout chick didn’t scan my FB card during the purchase) so I went to the service desk and they sorted it out with the receipt.
