For only the third time this year, earn 2,000 bonus Flybuys points on $100 and $250 Coles Mastercard prepaid gift cards at Coles. Plus, you also earn 1x Flybuys point per dollar spent.

These Coles Mastercard deals are always incredibly popular because you can use them almost anywhere Mastercard is accepted both in-store and online. Unless something has recently changed, they should even work to pay the ATO.

If you bought five $100 Mastercard gift cards, you would receive a total of 10,525 Flybuys points (worth over $50 or convertible to 5,000 Velocity points) for just $25 in card purchase fees.

Here are the details:

  • Runs from Wed 12 Nov to Tue 18 Nov 2025
  • Only available in-store at Coles
  • Limit of five gift cards per Flybuys account
  • $5 fee on $100 card, $7 fee on $250 card
  • This offer is open to everyone and does not require activation

How it works

To earn the bonus points, simply buy these $100 or $250 Coles Mastercard gift cards in-store at Coles between 12 Nov and 18 Nov and scan your Flybuys card when paying.

You can buy up to five gift cards in total per Flybuys account. That’s not five per day, it’s five in total for the duration of the offer. If you need more than that, you could use your family members’ Flybuys accounts to buy more gift cards.

Unlike Woolworths, Coles don’t tell you on the checkout or your receipt if you’ve actually earned the points but they usually credit to your account the following day at around 5pm, although sometimes the bonus points can lag behind the standard points by a day or two.

This promotion is available nationwide and no activation is required in order to earn the bonus points. You’ll find the offer advertised not in your Flybuys app but in the Coles catalogue for your state or territory plus also possibly on posters at the in-store gift card displays – if staff can be bothered to put them up.

Both the $100 and $250 Mastercards earn the same fixed bonus of 2,000 Flybuys points so most people tend to just stick to the $100s because they cost less and the purchase fee is lower too ($5 rather than $7). That also means the $100 denominations usually sell out well before the $250 cards.

Whilst they now use more tamper-resistant packaging, it’s still a good idea to tear open your Mastercard gift cards as soon as you’ve paid to confirm that someone hasn’t tried to scratch off or obscure the card number or security code (CVV). This guide shows you what signs to check for.

    1. Unless something has changed recently that should still work. Maybe try it with a single card first before buying more if that’s the only use you have for them.

    2. Yep! I picked up a couple cards this morning and successfully made an ATO payment just now.

    1. The $100 which have the $5 fee are the more popular one. I use them to put $100 fuel in each week to keep it easy to manage. The 2000 points converted into 1000 velocity points you’ll get around $30-50 in value

    2. It all depends what you use your Flybuys or Velocity points for.

For me, I value flying in comfort. Been banking these promotional points for years. Just booked Qatar Qsuites Adelaide to Rome with points for a family holiday in 2026. About $22,000 if you purchased the same flights with cash.

  1. Just a tip don’t use these cards to buy presents / clothes etc that may need returning – the store will want the card for the return and for online purchases they will return the money to the card – if your like me and thrown the card out after use – try to remember to keep it ☺️

    1. It depends. It won’t work on Woolworths Group gift cards or other prepaid Visa, Mastercard or Eftpos gift cards but probably will for Apple, TCN, Ultimate etc gift cards.

      1. So essentially I could buy $500 ($100×5) on Coles, and later to buy $500 Apple gift cards at Woolies?

      2. This way, you can pay for Woolworth’s groceries via woolworths dollars and the rewards app keeps a running balance for you.

    1. If you used these Mastercard gift cards when shopping in-store at Kmart, Target, Bunnings or Officeworks then you would still earn the 5x points from OnePass.

    1. Whatever PIN you enter the first time when prompted becomes the card’s PIN for that and all subsequent transactions. You can also set one on the balance check website.

Vanilla Visa gift cards used to not support PINs but they actually just introduced a new version of them so now they work just like the Mastercards.

  2. Can I buy all 5 in one transaction and get the 10,000 bonus points, or do they have to be purchased in seperate transactions?

    Reply

    1. It’s limited to 5 cards per flybuys account, not 5 per day.
Even then, It would be difficult to experiment and find out if it works because it takes forever for the bonus points to be credited to your flybuys account.

    2. I’ve seen people try it with previous runs of this offer and they only received bonus points for the first five gift cards.

    3. I bought 10 on two seperate fly buys cards yesterday. Just had to go through the checkout and then back again through another checkout for the 2nd lot. But you must use two separate fly buys accounts. Til make sure your fly buys accounts are not linked.

  3. Interesting my local Coles refused to sell me 10 gift cards on two seperate fly buys card this morning, citing it’s a managers and Coles decision. A new rule she said – 5 gift cards per day per fly buys card rule.

She actually said I was being greedy trying to use two flybuys cards for 10 gift cards. (In seperate transactions) and told me to go to another Coles store with my tom foolery! And that she didn’t have time for all these people and their stupid points.

Needless to say I was flabbergasted!

When I politely discussed the t&c she said
Ok you can come back for your 2nd lot on your other card tomorrow.

Hope everyone was successful today. ☺️

    1. Coles have a longstanding policy of “five gift cards per customer” that’s stated on signs at the gift card display. This is usually interpreted as five per day. Unfortunately, if staff choose to enforce it there’s not much you can do besides visiting another store or returning later.

    2. I never have issues but today I purchased my first 5 through a check out then went back and got the next 5 through self checkout(using my partners account). No issues and I doubt they would even know I went through a checkout 5mins earlier.

  4. Hi, since it says “Limit of five gift cards per Flybuys account”, just confirming that I could still get the bonus Flybuys points if I buy five gift cards in one day?
Just checking as I am aware that some gift cards like the TCN ones limit the bonus points to say, 2 cards per day.

  5. Got mine! Same week my council rates instalment notice arrived so I’ll be using the cards to pay for that!

    1. Hi can I please ask how do you pay your council rates with the gc? If your rate is $500, and gc is $100, how do you go about paying online, over the phone etc over 5 different transactions? Thanks

      Reply

      1. When i pay for my council rates with these cards, I just pay online over however many transactions you require

  6. These will work to purchase the TCN cards on next weeks deal, right? Just want to make sure, I have used them to purchase TCN cards at Woolies before but not Coles. Thanks!

    Reply

    1. I expect it will work as it has previously but with those sorts of things there’s always a chance they might suddenly decide to add new restrictions.

  7. Can you use these to buy your online groceries at Coles. So I can get my bonus online points for shopping this week as well. ☺️

    Reply

    1. You might be able to but it would be difficult because you would only be able to use one at a time and it must have enough of a balance to cover the entire purchase.
