Earn 2,000 bonus Flybuys points on $100 and $250 Coles Mastercard gift cards at Coles. In addition to the bonus points, you’ll also earn 1x Flybuys point per dollar spent.
Coles Mastercard gift cards can be used almost anywhere Mastercard is accepted both in-store and online (although they no longer work to pay the ATO online).
If you bought five $100 Mastercard gift cards, you would earn over 10,000 Flybuys points (worth $50+ or convertible to 5,000 Velocity points) for just $25 in purchase fees.
Here are the details:
- Runs from Wed 14 Jan to Tue 20 Jan 2026
- Only available in-store at Coles
- Limit of five gift cards per Flybuys account
- $5 fee on $100 card, $7 fee on $250 card
- This offer is open to everyone and does not require activation
How it works
Purchase $100 or $250 Coles Mastercard gift cards in-store at Coles between 14 Jan and 20 Jan 2026 and scan your Flybuys card when paying to earn 2,000 bonus Flybuys points per card.
You can receive the bonus points up to five times in total per Flybuys account. If you want to buy more than five, your only option is to use another Flybuys account as there’s no other way around the limit.
You won’t be told at the time of purchase if you’ve successfully earned the points but they should credit to your Flybuys account within 1-3 days. Sometimes the bonus points lag behind the standard points by a day or two.
This offer will be advertised in the Coles catalogue and possibly also via in-store posters. You don’t need to activate anything and all Flybuys members are eligible.
Most people tend to just buy the $100 Mastercards because they earn the same 2,000 points bonus as the more expensive $250 cards. However, that also means that the $100 cards tend to sell out more quickly.
Note that this will likely be the last time they run this offer for a while as last year we didn’t see it again for six months. In that period Coles instead ran a series of considerably worse offers on Visa gift cards.
Warning: It’s a good idea to open up each Mastercard after you’ve scanned it at the checkout to look for signs of tampering. More information about this scam can be found here.

You will also earn 1x Flybuys point per dollar spent in addition to the 2,000 bonus points.

Given there was no stock left at my local Coles a couple of weeks ago, when this offer ran last, how likely is it that there will be more stock?
Yeah I have the same thought. Four of my local Coles stores only had a handful of gift cards last promo – all gone within the first Wednesday morning. Hope they restock. Not holding my breath.
They’re usually pretty good at restocking these Mastercards. If you don’t see any on the outside, ask someone to check inside the gift card cabinet as there are often plenty more in there.
Visited two Coles stores (Hobart) first thing this morning, plenty of cards on the hook. Great to see.
My local store had plenty of stock as well !
Can we use these to buy the Apple gift cards that are about to come up at Woolies? Or can these be used to buy any other gift cards?
They should work to buy most other gift cards at Woolworths but not all (e.g. you can’t use them to buy other prepaid Visa, Mastercard or Eftpos gift cards or any gift cards issued by Woolworths Group).
You can however add them to your PayPal wallet and use them to buy Woolworths Group gift cards through the Everyday Rewards app
No paying ATO anymore?
There are mixed reports of them working when paying by phone but it seems to be a lot more hassle.
Can someone let me n ie if they successfully use these to buy apple gift cards at Woolies
Yes, worked for me today
Did you do this at the self checkout or at a staffed register? I tried once at the staffed register and it got rejected for some reason.
My local store didn’t have the 20xpoints signs up yet, this offer is valid at every store? I’m in Qld. 🙏
Yes the offer is valid at all stores. Wednesday being the new catalogue day, staff are busy changing specials tags and often don’t put the signs up till later in the day
It’s definitely available in Queensland. You’ll find it in the catalogue for your state.
First time purchasing these, do these have a pin and if so, is it the 3 digit number on the back of the card?
That’s the CVV. The PIN is just whatever four digit number you enter the first time you’re prompted.
Thanks, I was in a store standing there what pin? 😂
Once I open it do I peel the barcode sticker off?
There’s no need to do that.
Does the fly buys app update instantly in the account activity section once you made the purchases? Mine doesn’t show anything and wondering if that is normal
The Flybuys app won’t show anything until tomorrow at around 5-6pm. As long as your receipt shows your Flybuys number you’re good.
Will I get the points if I have bought 5x$100 cards in one transaction? It was also with some food 🙂
Yes you will.
Do you get extra points with Onepass ?
No. OnePass’ benefits do not extend to Coles, only stores like Kmart, Bunnings, Target and Officeworks.
If you have an additional cardholder on your account are they able to purchase max 5 gift cards even though the primary card holder has already purchased 5? Or do they need their own stand alone account?
You need completely separate accounts.
Yesterday I bought 3 cards in one transaction and 2 cards in another transaction. Today I received the base points for both transactions, but only the bonus points for the 2 card transaction. Guess I’ll have to wait a few days to see if the other bonus points turn up.
I’ve received the base points for 5x cards but no bonus points is this normal for them to come through separately? First time buying these ones.
Thanks
That’s normal. The bonus points will likely credit tomorrow at around 5-6pm but sometimes it can take until the following week.
Thank you
Do you press debit or credit when paying with these cards? And do you just swipe them on the eftpos terminal?
You have to swipe them and select Credit. If prompted for a PIN, whatever four digit number you enter the first time become that card’s PIN.
Can you use them to buy Woolworths wish vouchers via the Qantas shopping app? I’ve tried but it doesn’t work
You haven’t been able to use these gift cards on Qantas Marketplace since Oct 2024.
Is there anyway we can add these somewhere straight away? I don’t need to use them all right now but the stories I’m seeing about them getting hacked are making me nervous. Thanks!
I mean add the funds somewhere for use later.
For what it’s worth, I’ve bought hundreds of these Mastercard gift cards and have never experienced any unauthorised use. It’s still a good idea to spend them sooner rather than later but it’s quite rare that something goes wrong.
You could potentially use some of them to buy store-specific gift cards if you’d feel safer holding those instead. However, not all shops selling gift cards will let you pay using these Mastercards so it depends on which ones you’re after.
I bought a gift card from Coles and had trouble getting the Mastercard app set up to put it in my Apple Wallet. Is there an easier way? When I tried simply scanning the gift card at point of sale it wouldn’t read so assume it’s not activated somehow? First time to this and no doubt missing something fundamental! Thanks
These gift cards do not support mobile wallets. To use them in-store you swipe the card and select Credit. If you’re prompted for a PIN, whatever four digit number you enter becomes that card’s PIN.
I have used them for Google wallet, not sure about apple wallet though. They do have issues paying for things directly, eg electricity/sniip shows security error in transaction history, but google pay seems to work in both cases.
Strange. They started supporting Google Pay back in 2024 but then that stopped working in 2025. They’ve never supported Apple Pay as far as I know.
I just tried adding some of my cards to both Google Pay and Apple Pay today and neither worked.
how long does it take for bonus points to appear
