Earn 2,000 Flybuys points on $100 and $250 Coles Mastercard gift cards at Coles. After last month’s reduced bonus of 1,500 points, it’s good to see Coles is back to offering the usual 2,000 points on these cards.
Mastercard gift cards can be used to pay for almost anything. These offers are very popular because for each $100 card you buy, you’re essentially paying $5 (the purchase fee) to earn $10.50 worth of Flybuys points or 1,050 Velocity points.
Here are the details:
- Available from Wed 22 May to Tue 28 May 2024.
- Only available in-store at Coles.
- Limit of five gift cards per Flybuys account.
- $5 purchase fee on $100 card, $7 fee on $250 card.
- This offer is open to everyone and does not require activation.
How do I take advantage of this offer?
Scan your Flybuys card when purchasing the $100 or $250 Mastercard gift cards at Coles between 22 May and 28 May and you’ll qualify for the bonus points. Make sure you don’t purchase more than five gift cards per Flybuys account as that’s the maximum you can buy for the duration of the offer.
You won’t receive any indication that you’ve earned the points until around 5pm on the day following your purchase when they should appear in your account. Hang onto your receipt in the unlikely event that there are any issues with your gift cards or bonus points.
You don’t need to activate this offer as it’s from the Coles catalogue, meaning it’s open to all Flybuys members. Typically, these promotions are only ever advertised in the weekly specials catalogues and sometimes via some in-stores posters.
I’d recommend only buying the $100 card as both it and the $250 card receive the same fixed bonus of 2,000 points. If you buy five $100 cards, you’ll earn 10,525 Flybuys points (you also get 1 point per dollar spent) for just $25 in total purchase fees.
How many points will I earn?
On top of the 2,000 bonus points, you’ll also earn 1 Flybuys point per dollar spent on the gift cards.

Hello, do you think we’d be able to use the Luxury Gift Cards on sale at the moment in Woolworths to purchase these?
Possibly but I haven’t seen anyone try that purchase combination in a long time. I’ll update on Wednesday if I hear anything.

Yes, although some websites’ security measures don’t like prepaid gift cards so it’s often best if you add it to PayPal.
You should also keep in mind that the ability to split payments across multiple cards is rare for online purchases so I’d only really recommend using these cards if you know you’re going to be spending exactly $100 or $250 at a time.
How do you add these to PayPal? And does PayPal stack multiple cards into one balance, or you need to add $100 at a time?
You add them just like you would any other credit or debit card and then choose to pay with that card at checkout. You’re not using the gift cards to top up your PayPal balance.
does this mean if I add 5 x $100 gift card on my paypal wallet, I can buy $500 item online or I have to use 1 gift card and pay the rest with my credit card?
I believe you can only load money onto your PayPal balance from a bank account. Sometimes PayPal gives you the option to use multiple cards when paying but only for certain merchants.
Could these be used at ServiceNSW? Need to pay my rego but given the need for split payment I’d have to go into the service centre (and hope that they allow split payment)
Can these cards be used to purchase apple cards from Coles?
I believe so but I’d suggest that you wait for a 20x points promotion on Apple gift cards. There will likely be one very soon.
